Kona is from our breeding of Nugget and Cisco. Nugget is the sweetest, softest dog ever and Cisco is an intense, smart and beautiful dog with more drive than what we are used to. I wasn't exactly sure what we would get but I am VERY pleased with Kona, and her litter-mates. Not as intense as dad, but very smart with plenty of focus! Kona lives with the Steinacker family in Menasha. She is a medium/light color with a straight, plush coat and excellent pigment.
Here is what Tiffany writes: "We live in northern Wisconsin, where we play hard outside. Whether it's hiking, hunting, fishing, boating, swimming, or ice fishing, our dogs are always at our side! We named Kona after coffee, as we are big coffee drinkers in our family.
Kona is extremely smart, focused, and playful. She was very easy to train for her Rally Novice title, as she is so incredibly focused on me and loves to please. She even earned a perfect score of 100! She loves everything and everyone! No matter where we go, she has to say hi to everyone. We get a ton of compliments on how pretty and calm she is. She loves the water and of course retrieving. She melts to the floor looking for a belly rub and will stay still for as long as you will pet her. My fiance, Nick, has been working with her on bird hunting. It takes a very focused and patient dog to be a good hunter. At 8 months old, she was already kicking up and retrieving grouse and pheasant. She is great with my 8 year old son, Landyn, they snuggle together along with his other dog (Lita), watching cartoons."
At a year old Kona went to live with her foster family, the Steinackers, in Menasha. Here is what they write:
"Kona is such an amazing girl!! We had no idea how much love & joy she would bring to our lives. Whether someone is passing by or sees Kona in our car riding through town, people just can’t help but smile and comment how cute this sweet girl. She is so smart, obedient and eagar to please. Kona is very loyal and is almost always by my side. She LOVES water, whether she’s swimming in Lake Michigan or playing in the sprinkler in the backyard and she’s obsessed with tennis balls. Some of her other favorite activities include snuggling with us or our cat, going on our walks/hikes, playing fetch. She definitely has a “hunter” in her as well & is extremely focused when she picks up a scent trail of a critter. Kona is always so loving and calm, yet when it’s play time she can definitely take it up a few notches. She is such a perfect fit for us and we can’t imagine life without this amazing girl!!
Oh, I forgot to add...
She loves to play with her BFF Rosie, who is also a Harvestime golden!"
